DKT FTTH History
• DKT has been an early mover
•
•
FTTH and RF-overlay concept widely spread throughout Europe
Market leader in Coax network and Customer Home connect installations
• Together with Scandinavian operators several types of FTTH
CPEs have been developed
•
•
•
First FTTH CPE introduced in early 00’s
First gigabit CPE introduced in mid 00’s
3rd generation 1Gb CPE is now under development
• Customers and Operators recognize the history/knowledge
and choose DKT to reduce uncertainty
•
Numerios network installation in Scandinavian and Central Europe
• The combination of experience/know-how, branding, a
proven product portfolio and a well developed pipeline
•
Puts DKT in a good position to take advantage of the FTTH market
potential
DKTCOMEGA 797xx series introduction
Neutral Fiber Termination Units
• Passive Unit
• 79700 – 1x Passive Fiber Termination Unit with 2
pigtails, fiber management and dust protection cover
• Active Units
• 79701 – 1x 10/100/1000 Base-T LAN with 1000 Base-Bx
WAN uplink and CATV
• 79702 – 1x 10/100/1000 Base-T LAN with 1000 Base-Bx
WAN uplink and CATV, inclusive RF-filter
• 79703 – 1x 10/100/1000 Base-T LAN with 1000 Base-Bx
WAN uplink
DKT Open Access Network philosophy
• A neutral Fiber Termination Unit allows multiple Service Providers
access to customer premises
• With a “neutral” demarcation point services can be distributed to several
Service Provider devices
• A cost efficient Base Installation allows home network scaleability
• E.g. wireless standardizations changes rapidly, forcing operators to
change wireless boxes every 1½ years
• DKT philosophy is to separate the basic FTU media converter
functionality from the Service Boxes
• FTU can easily stay for 5 – 8 years (on the WAN side, the fiber is the
same, and on the LAN side gigabit RJ-45 is still to be deployed in 2015)
• Service Boxes has to be changed every 2 – 3 years due to new de-facto
standards and services to be offered to the end customer.
Neutral Demarcation point
• FTTH installations today
• Blurred picture, where operators mix the Network and Service
=> higher OPEX costs
• All CPE vendors define their ”one-fits-all” box as defacto
• FTTH installations, ideally
• Open Network, where services are being added to the
installation where applicable or requested
• Customer will pay for the service he want => lower CAPEX
• Make the installation simple and easy to maintain and upgrade
=> lower OPEX costs
• An analogy to Power and telephony
• Defines a clear demarcation point
• Separates the Network from the Services
DKTCOMEGA 79700 Usage Models
• Passive Optical Outlet
• When 3rd party active equipment is used (switches and
routers), the FTU can be used as Passive Optical
Outlet
• The protection part of the device can be used to
secure patch cables for external connectivity, whereas
the bottom part is used for fiber management
• Active Optical Outlet
• The bottom part is used for fiber management, the
protection cover is removed, and an active part (79001
- 703) can be clicked on top of the bottom part.
79700 Passive Optical Outlet Usage Model
• The 79700 consists of two pieces
• one part for fiber management
• one protection part curved cover
• 2 built-in pigtails
•
•
•
•
Fiber length: 0.75m
Fiber diameter: 900um
Fiber type: G.657 Type A
Connector type: SC/APC or SC/PC
• 2 built-in adaptors
• Type: SC/APC or SC/PC
• Insertion Loss: ≤0.20dB
• 2 patch cords can be installed in the
dust cover

Dust cover with patch cords
79700 Active Optical Outlet Usage Model
• Integrated media converter (SM fiber to RJ-45)
• 1x 10/100/1000 Base-TX (RJ-45)
• Prepared for 4x 10/100/1000 Base-TX (RJ-45), as a
future option
• Remote Management Interface via LAN to control CATV
module on/off and media converter VLAN/QoS settings
• CATV
• CATV Rx integrated for DVB-C, DVB-T and analogue TV
• RF-output level suitable for Coax home installations
• RF-filter as an option, to allow operators to offer
differentiated services
