HOW TO BE LED BY
THE HOLY SPIRIT
HOW DOES THE TRINITY
WORK?
• The first step is to establish how many Gods
exist: Only one!
• "I am the LORD, and there is no other; besides
Me there is no God" Isa 45:5
• “Thus says the Lord, the King of Israel And his
Redeemer, the Lord of hosts: ‘I am the first and I
am the last, And there is no God besides Me“
Isa 44:6
• God is a trinity of persons: the
Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit
•The Father is not the same person as
the Son; the Son is not the same
person as the Holy Spirit; and the
Holy Spirit is not the same person as
Father.
• They are not three gods and not three
beings. They are three distinct persons; yet,
they are all the one God. Each has a will, can
speak, can love, etc., and these are
demonstrations of personhood.
• They are in absolute perfect harmony consisting
of one substance. They are co-eternal, co-equal,
and co-powerful. If any one of the three were
removed, there would be no God.

HOW DOES THE HOLY
SPIRIT LEAD US?
Firstly, He desires to lead us
For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are
sons of God. Romans 8:14
But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the
Law Galatians 5:18
…walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the
desire of the flesh. Romans 8:13
1. We are given His peace as an umpire
And let the peace of Christ rule (Greek: umpire) in
your hearts,to which indeed you were called in one
body; and be thankful. Col 3:15
• The presence or absence of peace in a situation
• When there is no peace we sense that the Umpire
has blown His whistle to call us back to where we
need to be
2. We are convicted when we sin
John 16:8 (NEB) "When he [the Holy Spirit] comes, he will
convict the world, and show where right and wrong and
judgment lie. He will convict them of wrong...“
• When we sin we receive an ‘email’ from the Holy Spirit to
inform us that we are on dangerous ground.
• It is different from condemnation which is erratic and
heavy; conviction is constant and woos us to the Father.
• ‘Come on now, let’s fix this and move on’
• When we repent, the conviction lifts 1Jn 1:9
We are given direction
Jn 16:13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will
guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his
own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell
you what is yet to come.
Rom 8:14 or all who are led by the Spirit of God
are sons of God.
•
The Spirit tells us what is on the Father’s heart and
directs us to His will
•
We can receive direction for the day, direction for a
matter or direction for our life
4. We are assisted in prayer
Rom 8:26 Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness.
For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the
Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for
words.
• We are led in our prayer language by the Holy Spirit to pray
for things that are deep and profound
• Paul said he prayed in tongues more than anyone else 1
Cor 14:18
• You can include this into your devotional time with God
• Sometimes when we are prompted to intensify this it
precedes some sort of breakthrough for yourself or others
