Mission

Statewide program whose mission is to help low-income and first-generation college-goers complete the financial aid application process so they can access financial aid for education and career/technical training after high school

Impact

Since its inception, L.A. Cash for College has served nearly 210,000 students and their families – providing much needed information and resources to ensure students apply for and receive financial aid.

Los Angeles students received over $37-million in

Cal Grant and Pell Grant aid

Cash for College awarded Los Angeles students an

Requirements

Cash for College Workshop Organizer Expectations

• Provide students and their parents/guardians line-by-line assistance on the FAFSA, California Dream Act and Cal Grant GPA Verification Forms • Offer available Internet-connected computers at workshop • Offer additional language support at workshops, specific to local needs • At each workshop, provide participant access to the web-based Cash for College exit survey, or the official paper-based exit survey • Use attendance sign-in sheets at workshops and return copies to regional or statewide office • Aggressively promote available California Cash for College scholarships prior to your workshop(s) • Following the March 2 deadline, using the online tools provided at the Cash for College site to help evaluate the workshop series 4

• • • • • • • • • A $1,000 incentive scholarship to students who participate in a CFC workshop Secure organization accounts on the CCFC Workshop Management system, at www.calgrants.org/cashforcollege Financial Aid PowerPoint Presentations developed by experts Online Exit Survey/Scholarship Entry form A collection of customizable planning and outreach tools Coordination of local, regional and statewide marketing efforts to increase participant attendance Access to available marketing resources through the online materials ordering Access to specialized trainings and resources (Please see training schedule at www.lacashforcollege.org

) $300 site stipend for workshop sites with 25 or more student evaluations (must be request after the workshop) 5

Scholarship

Cash for College Scholarship Requirements: Students must:

1. Attend a Cash for College Workshop 2. Be a High School Senior 3. Complete a CFC Workshop Evaluation Form/Exit Survey 4. File their FAFSA or California Dream Act application (if AB540 eligible), and Cal Grant GPA Verification Form prior to the March 2 nd Deadline 5. Attend a 2 or 4-year accredited degree granting institution, pursuing an Associates or Bachelors Degree ( Cal Grant eligible schools -
