INTERPRETING THE SYMBOLS (p9)
This is an important
page. It explains
how to read the
institutions’ entries,
and gives
information about
the symbols used in
the booklet.
INTERPRETING THE SYMBOLS (p9)
A = assumed knowledge
R = recommended studies
* You CAN receive an offer to a course if you DO NOT have the
assumed knowledge or recommended studies for that course.
However, you might have to do a bridging course, and you could
struggle with the course content.
P = course prerequisites
SP = subject prerequisites
* You CAN’T receive an offer to a course if you DO NOT have the
prerequisites for that course.
N = none
INSTITUTION
ENTRIES (p13-95)
Here is a sample institution
entry.
It lists campuses and
contact details followed by:
- main areas of study
(left column)
- HSC requirements
(right column)
COMMON TERMS (p96-97)
Common terms lists
terms used by the
participating institutions.
These definitions will help
you understand the
information in the booklet.
AREAS OF STUDY INDEX (p98-99)
In these broad areas of
study are examples of
the types of subjects
that may be offered
within that area – and
the abbreviated names
of the institutions that
offer that area of study.
A key to abbreviations
is on page 99.
IMPORTANT POINTS
• Remember to take notice of assumed knowledge
and recommended studies, not just prerequisites.
• How many units should you study?
Make sure you met the ATAR eligibility
requirements regardless of how many units you
study.
Ten units allow focus, but there’s no leeway to
drop something. What are your interests? Do you
want a broad or narrow focus? How many units
can you handle?
