E.Q: How can I apply the strategies of inferring
and drawing conclusions to analyze and
comprehend literary texts.

How do you make an inference?
We all make inferences when we
take what we already know
(schema), and then take clues from
the text, and reach an assumption
or conclusion!
An inference is
not…...…
An inference is not stating evidence directly
from the text. You are not stating the obvious.
You’re also not making a prediction!

Listen as a student reads the text. Listen to the
clues that are given and make a guess as to
WHO the reader is, or WHERE the reader is!
Good luck!

Ho! Ho! Ho! I hope that kids have been good
this year. Although it’s difficult to get all of
those toys on my sleigh, I’d rather deliver
thousands of gifts than have to put children
on the naughty list.
Who am I?
