The Evaporcool System

uses multiple proprietary technologies.

A Simple Principle

Hot outside air is cooled as it passes through the EZ-Frame, before it reaches the condenser coils.

This allows the system to operate as though it were cooler outside than it actually is. On recent 100 degree days (73 wet bulb), in a humid Southeastern U.S. climate, the leaving air temperature of the EvaporCool system entering the condenser is 79.2 degrees!

EZ-Frame

The EZ-Frame™ framing system (patent pending) provides a unique mechanism for protecting condensing coils, and creates an environment in which air temperature is lowered as it enters the air conditioning unit. The system is designed so that absolutely no water transfers to the condenser coils.

Panels are attached by rare earth super magnets for ease of unit access.

Removable Panel Screen The easy to remove screens offer easy access for cleaning and replacing media.

SmartSpray

TM

The SmartSpray TM control box is the brain of the Evaporcool TM System. It monitors the external environment and the HVAC equipment in order to determine the optimal amount of water to evaporate into the air.

It also eliminates the need for a recirculation system for excess water. Now available with Performance Monitoring System with BACnet interface

TESTING PROCEDURES

All data is sorted according to the Cooling Degree Days… Definition:

COOLING DEGREE DAY (“CDD”)

A unit used to relate the day's temperature to the energy demands of air conditioning. One cooling degree day occurs for each degree the daily mean temperature is above 65

°

Fahrenheit.

Examples:

Min Max Mean Day 1 60° 80° 70° - 65° Day 2 70° 90° 80° - 65° Day 3 75° 105° 90° - 65° CDD 5 15 25

TESTING PROCEDURES

Step 1:

Baseline Testing

Prior to installation of the Evaporcool System, a data logger * is installed on the subject HVAC equipment to collect all applicable real-time energy consumption and unit performance information. The duration of this test depends upon the weather at the location, but will typically last at least 2-3 weeks.

Step 2:

Installation of the Evaporcool System

Step 3:

Comparison Testing

After application of the Evaporcool System, real-time energy consumption and unit performance data is collected. The duration of this test typically mirrors the duration of the baseline testing, but is also highly dependent on the weather.

Step 4:

Data Analysis

Once complete, all data is collected and analyzed by our in-house engineering department. We sort all data by Cooling Degree Day, as provided by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The average kWh consumed during the baseline testing period is then compared that consumed after installation of the Evaporcool System.

* All data was collected using either an Amprobe Data Logger (Model DM-II Pro) or a Satec Event & Data Logger (Model #EDL172XR or EDL174).

REDUCED MAINTENANCE

Cleaner coils means more efficient operation.

“A … dirty condenser coil can increase compressor energy consumption by 30%.”

- Federal Emergency Management Program Fact Sheet

“If the coil is dirty …. this raises your electricity cost for air conditioning and may shorten the life of the outdoor condensing unit.”

- Saturn Research Management

REDUCED MAINTENANCE

The Evaporcool System protects coils from dirt and debris, so your coils stay clean longer.

BEFORE AFTER

REDUCED MAINTENANCE

Properly cleaning condenser coils requires:

• Hours of labor spent taking equipment apart and pressure washing coils.

• Taking the unit “off-line” for this period.

• Using caustic chemicals on your facilities and handling chemical runoff.

• Immediately after cleaning, the unit begins to collect dirt once again.

With Evaporcool®:

• Coils are professionally cleaned upon installation, and immediately sealed off from outside air.

• Dirt and debris are prevented from entering the system.

Our customers can go years without cleaning coils.

Water Conservation

The National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL) reports: “U.S. electricity production consumes over 20 gallons of water per KWH created.

Other studies confirm this water usage and state that depending upon the power plant type, the water usage can range from 10 gallons to 25 gallons of water consumed per KWH created.

The EvaporCool system uses approximately 1.9 gallons of water for each KWH saved. This saves approximately 90% of water usage while saving electricity

Based on national averages, on a 75 ton hvac unit, the EvaporCool system will use $78 of water in a year, while saving over $7,000 annually in electricity.

By reducing electricity demand and consumption, Evaporative Cooling actually SAVES water on a global scale!”

Kinetico Water Treatment

Kinetico salt/resin ion exhange water treatment used on many “hard” water sites. Removes the minerals (calcium and magnesium primarily) from the water stream. Requires occasional addition of salt to the tank.

HydroFlow Water Treatment

Uses advanced water treatment technology, the Evaporcool System operates best in soft water hardness environments.

How Hydropath Technology Works

The difference between Hydropath Technology and other physical water conditioning technologies is the induced signal and its ability to treat an entire system continuously. HyrdroFLOW’s water conditioners induce an electric signal of ±150 kHz into any water pipe on which they are installed (copper or PVC). The electrical induction is performed by a special transducer connected to a ring of ferrites. Just as an electrical wire carries a current from point A to point B, the water inside the pipe acts as a conductor and carries the induced electric signal throughout the entire water system. The oscillating sine waves of the induced AC signal cause the positively and negatively charged ions to form suspended clusters in the water, preventing them from attaching to surfaces. These clusters “clump” together into a fine, white powder that collects on the Evaporcool media in small quantities (measured in parts per million) that occasionally need hosing off the media when any dust in the air is hosed off. Testing shows that compared to other non chemical electronic water treatment technologies, Hydropath Technology is 30,000 times more powerful.

HydroFlow Water Treatment

HydroFlow TM System:

• No Salts. No Chemicals. No Magnetic Coils.

• Unit transmits a unique radio frequency signal that effectively breaks up existing limescale and prevents future buildup protecting the entire plumbing system.

• The HydroFlow unit simply clips to the pipe, is plugged into an outlet and is switched on. There is no plumbing or electric work required.

Optional Booster Pump

Booster pump needed if water pressure at HVAC unit is less than 60 PSI.

Evaporcool is one of the few products that reduces the energy usage of air cooled HVAC equipment. Using evaporative cooling to precool the entering condenser air has been around for decades. There are reasons that Evaporcool is the market leader in this market .

Some system details of the Evaporcool system include: 1. Dramatically reduces the entering condenser air temperature. These systems have had a U.L. testing analysis and thousands of systems operating successfully. On a humid, 95db/78wb outside design day, the Evaporcool unit will cool this air to approximately 82 degrees db. Depending upon unit type, this reduces the energy usage by 20-22% or more. 2. KW demand is reduced 3. Due to the Evaporcool filter media, dirt in the air is prevented from reaching the condenser coil. This saves on annual condenser coil cleaning labor. It also increases efficiency.

4. Since the units run at a lower condensing temperature, repairs are minimized. The reason air cooled units typically require considerably more repairs in the heat of the summer is because of the high condensing temperatures and pressures that normally are experienced. 5. With the reduced condensing temperatures and pressures of the Evaporcool system, equipment life can be extended. 6. Typical payback periods, only counting the energy savings, are approximately 2 to 4 years. Rebates and incentives are available in many locations. 7. This is one of the few technologies that increases energy efficiency but at the same time does not negatively affect the room temperature. 8. Cooling capacity increased approx. 8-12 percent.

The design advantages of the Evaporcool system include: 1. Evaporcool does not spray water onto the condenser coils. It sprays water within the Evaporcool casing causing the Evaporcool filter media to remain saturated. This cools the air and prevents moisture from collecting on the condenser coil. In addition, even though no water is sprayed on the condenser coil, the water is filtered and treated with a water softening system.

2. The condenser coils are filtered from dirt in the air that has to be cleaned regularly and causes energy inefficiency. 3. The air pressure drop through the media pad is very low (less than 1/10 of an inch) by design 4. Units are attached to the A/C units with rare earth super magnets and quick attach couplings. This allows the Evaporcool units to be quickly removed if necessary for repairs and maintenance. System is totally non-invasive.

5. The SmartSpray computerized controller sprays the precise amount of water to minimize water usage and prevent water draining on the roof. No recirculation system or drain system is required 6. Some of the Evaporcool clients include AT&T (many sites), Verizon, Hewlett Packard, the University of Tennessee and many other high profile clients
