EQ Math Goal:
By the end of the 2013-2014 school year, a minimum of
80% of Grade 1-4 students at Electa Quinney
Elementary School will demonstrate grade level
proficiency in Math as measured by MAP / AIMS .
EQ Reading Goal:
By the end of the 2013-2014 school year minimum of
80% of Grade 1-4 students at Electa Quinney
Elementary School will demonstrate grade level
proficiency in Reading as measured by MAP / PALS.

*Professional development for math practice #3
(Math Talk: constructing viable arguments and
critiquing the reasoning of others)
*Professional development for educational
assistants on math talk.
*SLT members collaborate with math coach and
ELL specialist on best practice strategies for Math
Talk.

*Teachers will provide intentional vocabulary
instruction within the math block using:
-Math Expressions ELL tips within each unit
-Key vocabulary highlighted by math coach
-Additional vocabulary taught based on student need.
Our Content Word Wall is used specifically
for posting vocabulary taught in math,
science and social studies, aside from our
traditional Word Wall.
*Explore ACCESS test scores and “Can do”
descriptors and relate them to math instruction.
Tier 2 &3
*Meet with small groups for those who need more
intensive instruction.
*Use data to identify the students with the greatest
academic needs.

by MAP / PALS / TLA / Smarter Balanced
assessments.

Workshop approach to reading that includes
explicit small group instruction
Collaboration time focused on data and
supporting students in workshop.
Develop a shared understanding of the components
of balanced literacy.
Professional development
in GRR & small group
instruction
Professional development and use of
Access test scores and “Can Do” descriptors
Develop and use a common
vocabulary.
Use “Extend the Sort” tips
on building vocabulary
in word study
literacy
Provide interventions within the workshop
structure
Use data to identify the students in need of
intervention.
Collaboration time allotted for data driven
discussions and problem-solving related to student
response to instruction.
Collaborative meetings available with reading
specialist to discuss progress
and create instructional plans.
Teachers who are in the evaluation cycle for
the Effectiveness Project should have one
artifact showing how they are
using technology to enhance
instruction.
Staff & Students will make
active use of the projector,
computer and/or Mimeo.
Math & Reading family nights
Include tips/topics regarding
Math & Literacy in newsletters
ELL student book bags
