The Langendorff perfusion model is a feasible ex vivo validation tool for testing the
performance of several perfusion imaging techniques in controlled circumstances. (this
thesis)
In an ex vivo model, MBF quantification per segment detects differences in artificially
hypoperfused segments, with an FFR stenosis threshold < 0.80. (this thesis)
CT MBF measurements are highly dependent on the temporal sampling rate in
dynamic CT perfusion. (this thesis)
Dual energy iodine quantification scans should be performed using imaging protocols
with largest tube voltage separation to acquire most accurate iodine concentration
measurements. (this thesis)
Scan triggering in single shot CT acquisition should not extend the 8 second window for
discrimination between normal and ischemic myocardium. (this thesis)
The radiation absorption coefficient provides an optimal intravascular parameter for
the development of an imaging biomarker for myocardial perfusion. (this thesis)
Standardization in methodology, acquisition protocol and post-processing is
mandatory in the biomarker development of CT myocardial perfusion imaging. (this
thesis)
Integration of functional and morphological information from cardiac CT scans will
improve the diagnostic accuracy for detection of coronary artery disease. (this thesis)
