Ritrovo dei sig. partecipanti in aeroporto alle 11,30. Incontro con un nostro responsabile e disbrigo delle formalità doganali, partenza con volo di linea Alitalia delle 14,10 per Londra Heathrow. Arrivo alle 16,00 incontro con un responsabile della scuola e trasferimento ad Hastings

Tempo a disposizione per la visita dei luoghi più famosi della città. A fine visita trasferimento con pullman privato ad Hastings, trasferimento e accoglienza nelle famiglie. Cena e pernottamento.

Welcome to Embassy school in historic Hastings, a town that has been popular with visitors since 1066 when Duke William of Normandy crossed the English Channel and defeated the Saxon king, Harold and was crowned William 1 of England. The last successful invasion of England by a foreign power, this famous battle changed the course of English history and, given that the language we speak today is really a mixture of Anglo Saxon and French, it staked Hastings’ claim to be the crucible of the modern English language. An attractive seaside town of just 90,000 people, you will find Hastings scenic, lively and friendly with a unique atmosphere that will cast its spell on you. The City

For a town of its size, there is a lot going on in Hastings – even in the winter. It is particularly suited to the student who would prefer a seaside town which is not too large or crowded and who prefers not to travel too far to school or places of entertainment, whilst being able to benefit from the rich tradition of history and culture that is to be found here. The Embassy campus is a great place to learn in. It has free wireless internet and email access on campus, with multimedia computer suites and student common rooms. The school also has a cafeteria with world-class catering offering a wide range of choices including Halal and vegetarian options every day. Hastings is a town and borough in the county of East Sussex, within the historic county of Sussex, on the south coast of England. The town is located 53 mi (85 km) south east of London, and has an estimated population of 86,900.

Climate

T h e s e a g i v e s H a s t i n g s a v a r i e d c l i m a t e . We never know what the weather will be like from one day to the other. It can be sunny one day and rainy the next. As we have such a variable climate changing from day to day, it is difficult to predict the weather. In general we have warm summers and cool winters. Our summers are cooler than those on the continent (not much higher than 25ºC), but the winters are milder (not much lower than 0ºC). July and August are normally the warmest months in Hastings, and all around the coasts, February is normally the coldest month.

Course Descriptions: General English

A structured programme to suit all levels, this course follows a general English syllabus and it is an ideal way to develop your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills for everyday use. The standard programme follows a core general English syllabus and the intensive programme combines the core general English programme with electives. It enables you to study in more depth, to make faster progress and to customize your course. It is offered in two versions: Standard and Intensive.

Your first day

On the very first Monday morning of the course, all new students are tested and graded and placed in classes. Here the Group Leaders get the opportunity to meet some of the key staff members, such as the Academic Manager – Katie, the Deputy Academic Manager – Raquel, the Social Activities Manager – Dexter and the Accommodation and Welfare Manager and Receptionist – Gene. During the first day you will also receive a copy of the activities programme for the week, as well as a tour of the town and places to meet for activities. Each student will receive a map of the town as well as a student card with important information (such as the emergency telephone number for the school) and their host family address. It is essential that students keep this card with them at all times. All centres have dedicated student support staff, who can provide assistance with the following;

Money and Banking

Most UK banks are open from 9:00am to 5:00pm from Monday to Friday. Some open Saturday mornings. We can help you to open a bank account. You can exchange money or travelers cheques in a bank, post office or at a travel agent. Please note that students staying in the UK for less than 26 weeks may not be able to open a bank account.

Medical Advice

Our student welfare department will be able to advise you, should you need medical help. First Aid – we have qualified first aid staff on the premises. Please ask in reception if you need assistance. Ambulance – if you need an ambulance in an emergency, dial 999. Medical Certificates – If the doctor says you need time off school, please ask for a medical certificate and bring it to school on your first day back.
