Learning Targets
I can identify all components of the EL-120 final project.
Final Project, Part I - Planning Beyond Next Term
In a Google Doc, write 2 pages typed (double-spaced, 12 point font, share with me upon
completion) to describe your long-term goals as you continue to attend CCC and work
towards high school graduation. In addition, describe your current plan for next steps after
high school. Be specific! (25 points)
Do you plan to attend a 2-year or 4-year college? If so, what are the admissions
requirements for YOUR chosen school(s)? Are you on track to attend these schools? If
not, what do you need to do to improve your chances of being admitted?
If you’re undecided about attending college beyond CMC’s program, how might you go
about researching the best option for you? What are some other options you are
considering?
Final Project, Part I - Planning Beyond Next Term
In a Google Doc, SHARE a completed Resume (20 points)
Follow guidelines and sample resumes linked on handouts. Must
be typed, no more than one page.
Final Project, Part II - Allowing Others to Help You
Pick one strategy from On Course Chapter 5 – Employing Interdependence: Creating
a Support Network on pages 185-189. Make sure it is concrete and then plan to do it
between now and the end of the term.
Examples include: Form a study group for finals that meets at least two times
before finals, talk with an instructor during office hours to ask questions, visit the
Learning Center for tutoring or organizational help, go to Career and Counseling
Services for help choosing a major or writing a resume, see a CCC Adviser for
help planning your degree, sign up for a CCC club...etc.
Final Project, Part II - Allowing Others to Help You
In a Google Doc, write 2-3 paragraphs (one page typed, double-spaced, 12 point font,
share with me upon completion) to describe your experience.
What did you do and why did you choose this strategy? Have you ever tried this
before?
Describe your experience in asking for help or getting involved on campus – was
it difficult, uncomfortable? Why or why not?
What was the outcome? What will you take away from this experience?
What will you do differently next term from the start to allow yourself to be
more interdependent?
