Towards Titan’s Atmosphere
L. Daumont, A. Nikitin, X. Thomas, L. Régalia, Pierre Von der Heyden, V.
Tyuterev, L. Brown.
Titan’s atmosphere is very close to the earth atmosphere:
N2 95%,
CH4 3%,
Ar 2%
T from 70 K to 200 K
~1000 km thickness
pressure (ground) 1.5 atm
Spectral observations: CASSINI, from earth….
HITRAN 2008 database for 12CH4

10-24 cm/molec
Spectrum 1800 m:
……
10% below JPL data for some few lines with intensities
around 10-26 cm/molec
Conclusion:
Data from long-path FTS at room Temperature:
- Completes the previous experimental data for weak lines.
- Allow to determine many parameters of the effective hamiltonian
and dipole moment usefull to extrapolate data to low temperature.
- Will be used with future data at low temperature (~100 K) make
assignments easier
