Problem Statement
The purpose of this project was to locate the
optimal speed to travel down the Berlin Turnpike.
Requirements
Two sets of data required
• Distances Between Traffic Lights
• Cycles of the Traffic Lights during the morning commute
Working knowledge of simulation package
• ProModel
System Design
•Locations
•Lights
•Roads
•Entities
•Car
•Processing
•Arrivals
Test Performed
Two different tests performed
•1st: Sent 1 car through system at different times
•2nd: Sent 1 car into system every minute for 2 hours
Results
Test 1:
The faster one went, resulted in faster time
Utilization was not as good at the faster speeds
Test 2:
Results similar to Test 1,
Utilization was not as good overall
Conclusion
System successfully modeled
Results reflect actual times
