What do we use to plan and teach Mathematics?
-We use the National Numeracy Strategy for our
objectives
-We use Abacus evolve to aid our planning and
to enhance the teaching and learning of
Mathematics at ISB
What is Abacus evolve?
• It is the leading scheme for teaching Mathematics in the UK
• It has won many national awards for the teaching and learning
of Mathematics
• It is interactive, differentiated and age appropriate for the
individuals in our classes
• It builds on the child´s knowledge and understanding year on
year
• It helps the teacher assess the individual needs of each child
in their class
What can you do as parents to help your child?
• Use mathematical language with your child in everyday situations.
• Lots of practical learning through games, cooking and other fun activities.
• Help your child to consolidate their learning through completing their
homework.
• Ensure that your child has a good understanding of the
mathematical vocabulary we use in school.
Literacy
