Within the overall framework of policies formulated by the General
Assembly; coordination and guidance from the Economic and Social
Council
The functions of the Executive Board are:
Receiving information from and give guidance to the Executive Director
Oversight of the Entity operational and coordination activities
Approving UN-Women overall governing documents such as the UNWomen Strategic Plan, Integrated Budget, audit reports, evaluation plans
and other managerial documents.
Approving global overarching policies guiding UN-Women (such as
evaluation policy)
Providing inter-governmental support

MEMBERSHIP
41 members who serve on a rotating basis:
10 from the Group of African States
10 from the Group of Asia-Pacific States
4 from the Group of Eastern European States
6 from the Group of Latin American and Caribbean States
5 from the Group of Western European and Other States
(unique rotation scheme)
6 from contributing countries
The Economic and Social Council elects members to the Executive Board
for a term of three years.
