COLOSSIANS 3: 5 - 14

Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:

And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

1PETER 3: 1- 5

1Pet.3:1-5 Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;

2

While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.

Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;

4

But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which 4

is in the sight of God of great price.

5

For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands: 5

NOT ALL OUR BATTLES DEAL WITH DENOMINATIONALISM AND FALSE TEACHING 

Another battle is keeping ourselves unspotted from the world –

Eph.5:27 - That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

Jas.1:27 - Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

1Tim.5:22 “…keep thyself pure”

 Purer In Heart, O God 8

WHAT POSSIBLE INFLUENCE CAN I HAVE OVER MY FRIENDS IF I LIVE LIKE THE WORLD?

If they see me with an explosive temper

If they hear me using vulgar language

If they know I watch sinful things on TV

If I dress immodestly, smoke and drink

If I am filled with envy and jealousy - coveting

If I am a gossip and liar

If I disobey my parents

If I steal at work

ARE YOU SALT AND LIGHT?

Mt.5:13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

14

Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

15

Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

16

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven 10

1Pet.2:12 Having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation

HELP MY ENEMIES? NO WAY!!

Mt.5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; Acts 7:60 And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep. Lk.23:34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.

OUR TREASURES CAN’T BE ON EARTH

MT.6:19-21 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

20

But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: 2

1

For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also MT.13:44 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.

THE RICH YOUNG RULER LOVED HIS RICHES

MT.19:20 The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet? follow me.

22 21

Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions
