Advanced Meter Requirement

 Advanced metering mandated by Energy Policy Act of 2005 (EPAct 2005), the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 (EISA 2007), policies, and directives.  Deadlines to install advanced meters  Electric by 30 Sep 2012 (EPAct 2005)  Gas and Steam by 30 Sep 2016 (EISA 2007)  Meter buildings with est. $35K/yr utility cost and/or 29,000 sq ft, and reimbursable tenant facilities.

End State

Establish the energy information infrastructure (installation energy footprint) that will enable/provide: • Management of smart buildings • Energy Managers who are energy smart and more effective to meet energy reduction goals.

• Building occupants are energy aware and actively participate in energy reduction actions.

• Reduce energy waste • Continuous improvements in energy efficiencies • Meet the requirements of NetZero by 2030.

Define the scope of the action

• What data do we need to collect and analyze?

• What is the data flow architecture?

• What hardware and software is needed to collect and transfer data? • What hardware and software is currently installed and needs to be integrated into the system?

• How will the system security (Information Assurance) be tested, implemented, and maintained?

• Who will sustain/maintain the systems?
