
All Senior Robotics' team members please
come to Ms. Adair's room right after school,
Monday, February 16 for a short 15 minute
meeting. We are discussing the team
banquet. Please be present to give your
input.
EMCC Honors College

Apply for admission to the EMCC Honors
college at www.eastms.edu and click “Apply
Now.” It’s totally free and takes about 5
minutes to complete. (If you are already
taking EMCC classes through dual
enrollment, you do not need to re-apply or
have your transcripts sent again.)
Library Closed

The library will be completely closed before school,
during school, and after school on Monday Feb. 16.
They will not be able to answer the phone or unlock
the library. Please be respectful of the librarians on
this day.
ACT make up


Any students who were unable to take the
ACT on Saturday Feb 7 can transfer their
registration to the April 18 test date.

This option includes students who were
absent on Saturday or did not meet the
picture deadline before the test date. There
is a fee of $23.00 to change your test date.

AMC 10 AMC 12

The math club will be giving the AMC 10 and
AMC 12 on February 25. This an advanced
math contest where students have an
opportunity to advance to an international
competition. Students who would like to
participate should bring their $5 contest fee
to Mr. Williams in room 17 on the east wing by
Friday February 13.
ACT

The Junior Class will be taking the ACT on
March 3. They must complete some
important pre test items.

The pretest session will be held on Monday,
Feb. 16 in the theater as follows:
1st Block Juniors A through G
2nd Block Juniors H through Phelps
4th Block Juniors Poe through Y



Summit

The Starkville Oktibbeha Chapter of Young
boys and Men of Color will conduct My
Brother’s Keeper summit at Greensboro
Center 9:00-12:00, tomorrow-February 14.
Topics for discussion will be early childhood
education, reading level, and graduation
rates. Contact Orlando Trainer for more
information at 662.769.0071.
DYW
Please support our Distinguished Young Women
(DYW) Program on March 7 at 7 p.m. at McComas
Theatre on the Campus of MSU. Tickets are $12 at
the door. The theme is: “Peace, Love and DYW”.
 There will be a Celebrity Waiter Night at Central
Station Grill Tuesday, February 24, 5:30-8:30.The
proceeds will go toward our scholarship fund and
Community Service activities.

NHS

The National Honor Society will meet
February 17 in room 13. The meeting will start
at 7:45 a.m. on that date.
Senior Video

All pictures and videos for the Senior video
are due by Friday, February 27.
Miss Y J

The Miss Yellow Jacket Pageant will be held
on Friday, March 27 at the Starkville
Sportsplex. Be sure to pay your fines in the
front office to Mrs. Brand if you would like to
participate. Applications and dress
information will be available soon.
Musical

"Legally Blonde the Musical" will run February
19 - 22, 2015 in the SHS Theatre.

Tickets will be $7 at the door and show time is
at 7:00 pm Thurs - Sat and at 2:30 pm on
Sunday. We hope you join us for this exciting
new musical!
Carnations

If you bought a Valentine’s Day carnation
from the French Club, theywill be available
for pick up in the cafeteria today during
lunch.
Seniors


Your senior fee is $85. It needs to be paid by
April 13. You can pay in installments. Seniors
who do not pay will not be allowed to
participate in prom or beauty revue.
See Mrs. Brand in the front office to make
your payment.
Prom

The prom will be April 25. This year’s theme is
Frozen in Time. The cost to attend prom will
be $30. All prom attendees will get a t-shirt
this year.

Senior Night

Senior Night for basketball will be tonight at
the Aberdeen game. Come support the
Jackets.

The district tournament will be held in the
SHS gym February 17-20.
Cheer

There will be a cheer interest meeting on
Monday, Feb. 16at 6:00 p.m. in the SHS
library for students in grades 9-11 and their
parents/guardians. Attendance at this
meeting is mandatory for students and
parents/guardians.
Golf

Members of the golf team need to pick up a
revised schedule and pay their fee to Coach
Hobart in room 100.




SUMMER YOUTH INSTITUTE is a 9-day
experiential learning opportunity for current
high school freshmen and sophomores
committed to making a difference in their
communities. This FREE program focuses on
civic engagement, leadership training, and
relationship building. It is held at the
University of Mississippi.

Mississippi Excellence in Teaching Program….Goal is
to train new secondary English and mathematics

The College of Nursing at “The W” will host high school

TO PLAY A SPORT


Any student wishing to tryout or participate
in a sport must have a current physical,
parent permission form, media consent
release, and concussion form on file in the
Athletic Department or have one ready to
turn in on the day of tryouts.
Also, any student who plays a sport must take
the STAR Sportsmanship course online to be
eligible. If you haven’t taken the test, get
instructions from your coach and do so
immediately.

FCA invites all students to the theatre on
Thursday morning at 7:45.
FCA leadership groups are Wednesday
mornings at 7:45. The women’s leadership
group is in Mrs. Young’s class and the men’s
leadership group is in Mr. Williams’ class.
