The Harlem Renaissance (Post WWI through the 1930’s)

•In this unit about The Harlem Renaissance, students will learn what historical events led to the movement. They will also learn about the important leaders that came from The Harlem Renaissance, the chronology of events, as well as how it impacted the lives of African Americans.

•Students will have a choice of projects that will require them to research one aspect of the Harlem Renaissance and present to the class.

Harlem Renaissance Assignment

This presentation is for 5 th grade and is intended to introduce the key people of the Harlem Renaissance. It serves as an introductory lesson to generate questions and ideas from the students. From this further research will be conducted on an individual or team basis. This unit will conclude by completing one of the performance tasks previously stated in the presentation.
