Act One, Scene One
The play opens at night on the street near Brabantio’s
house when Iago and Roderigo engage in conversation
on Desdemona’s issue. Roderigo rebukes Iago for
collecting money from him in order to woo Desdemona’s
hand in marriage but failed to do it. The lady in question
(Brabantio’s daughter) is now engaged to Othello.

ACT ONE, SCENE TWO
Brabantio accuses Othello of using magic to seduce his
daughter which he reported in front of the duke.
Brabantio insists that he wants to arrest and prosecute
Othello specifically for the crime of witchcraft. The duke
later nullifies the charge against Othello after hearing
his own side of the story.
