The Process
In December the FWSC Youth Board authorizes and supports: o SWOT Analysis hosted by Mark Yde o Meetings populated by Board members, Director of Coaching, highly qualified coaches & respected managers

SWOT discussions were far reaching and open forums for looking at “Today’s” Sport Club and “Tomorrow’s” Sport Club Coaching Structure Marketing and Development

Past Structure
Not always even wearing the same uniforms Teams were “islands”—a loosely affiliated group Some parent coaches, some paid coaches Rec soccer families unaware we had travel soccer and vice versa
Goals for New Structure
Provide a program that will fit the needs of every family and player Preserve the FWSC tradition of the parent coach Provide the highest level of training and competition to every player

Open tryouts every June Paid or parent coaches with licensing Technical Directors, Assistant Technical Directors or paid trainer may be used if team wishes Teams choose their own names

Limited travel for games & tournaments Opportunity to guest play/train with Academy with coach & parent approval Coaches eligible for in-house coaching education as well as license subsidy
Premier Teams
Open tryouts every June Paid or parent coaches with appropriate license Technical Directors provide training a minimum of once a week Teams choose their own names
Premier Teams
Compete at highest level appropriate to team’s ability and ambition Outdoor training 2 to 3 times per week; indoor option to train with Academy Opportunity to guest play/train with Academy with coach & parent approval Coaches eligible for in-house coaching education as well as license subsidy
Academy Teams

Age Group Technical Director Roles
Act as head coaches for Academy teams Serve as trainer for Premier Teams Cooperate with other technical directors Communicate with other FWSC coaches within assigned age groups
Age Group TD Roles
Mentor assistant coaches and apprentice coaches within assigned age groups TDs stay with age groups, not teams o Club stability o Expert age group coaching o Provide different voices for players
Age Group TD Roles
TD must attend and coach scheduled Academy team games TDs to see a minimum of two Premier team games per season Provide formal, written evaluations to Academy players four times per year; Premier twice
Age Group TD Roles
Actively seek licensing and professional development opportunities for themselves and assistant coaches. (Teagarden Fund) Communicate with TDs of older and/or younger groups to discuss players’ development with potential of providing opportunities to train or club pass up an age group

Coordination of Functions
Monthly staff meeting of PDA Director, age group, Technical Directors, and DOC All staff must agree to work within developed framework and club playing philosophy Seasonal summaries will be written within four weeks to the end of season and provided to the DOC.
Training & Competition
Academy & Premier teams train minimum of twice per week for two hours each session or 3 times per week for 90 minutes each session U-12 & 13 (outdoor) Academy & Premier teams train minimum of three times per week for 90 minutes U-14 and up (outdoor) Academy & Premier teams train minimum of twice per week for 60 minutes each session U-12 and up (indoor)
Training & Competition
Academy teams in U-12 & U-13 age groups will play in President’s Cup Academy teams in U-14 and up will play in State Cup Premier teams will be encouraged to play in President’s Cup or State Cup if possible

U-12 and U-13 teams may play a total two additional tournaments during the year U-14 teams may play up to three additional tournaments during the year U-15 & up will play four showcases tournaments in addition to State Cup Travel teams will determine Cup and tournament schedules

All Academy teams will seek highest level of league play—ISL, ICL/NPL, MRL Premier teams will play ISL with ability to qualify for MRL Travel teams will play ISL
