Background

I- Background of ASEAN Skills Competition

Background  Idea for a Skills Competition at ASEAN regional skills competition originated from the ILO/APSDEP program in 1993  The first skills competition was held in 1995  The 9 th ASEAN Skills Competition was held in Jakarta, Indonesia 4

Background  For Tourism Skill Areas, we have dispatched our two competitors for cooking and restaurant service skill areas  One of the two competitors from PSE has won the Medallion of Excellence  It is the second time for Cambodia to join tourism skill areas competition for this ASEAN Skills Competition 2014 5

Background

Objectives

-Promote the development of tourism professional training quality and tourism work values among the youth and tourism professionals; -Foster technical cooperation in tourism professional training amongst tourism stakeholders; -Encourage close cooperation in tourism between public-private people and partnership (4Ps) - Step towards recognizing tourism professional excellence and develop new generation of tourism professionals to reach the quality at the regional and international levels.

Tourism Skill Areas:

Restaurant Service and Cooking.

Schedule:

-1 st Technical Committee Meeting, from 19-22 March 2014 -10 th ASEAN Skills Competition 2014, 19-29 October 2014

Venue:

National Convention Center, Hanoi 8

ASC 2014 23 Skill Areas to be competed for ASC 2014 including Welding, IT Software Solution for Business, Wall & Floor Tilling, Plumbing and Heating, Electronics, Web Design, Electrical Installations, Bricklaying, Cabinet Making, Joinery, Fashion Technology, Automobile Technology, Restaurant Service, Cook, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering Design CAD, Graphic Design Technology, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, IT Network System Administration, Beauty Therapy, Hair Dressing, Industrial Automation, IT Network Cabling 9

ASC 2014  Competitors must be less than 22 years old and never joined ASEAN Skills and World Skills Competition  For Cambodia, the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training would send 10 Competitors for 6 Skill Areas including ​ Bricklaying, Electrical Installations, Welding, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, IT Software Solution for Business.

 And the Ministry of Tourism shall send two competitors for cooking and restaurant service skill areas 10

Infrastructure Lists

- The Infrastructure List is a list of materials and equipment to be provided for the conduct of a professional area.

-They should be commonly available in all participating organizations/ institutions. - The Infrastructure List shall be informed to participating organizations/ institutions.

Registration

Registration of Competitors, Experts, Observers and guests takes place in three stages:

1- Provisional registration

Approximately two (02) months before the competition.

2- Indicative registration

Checked and updated at least (01) months before the competition.

3- Definitive registration

Confirmed approximately 20 days before the competition. 18
